Rhodia in the United States

Rhodia presence in the U.S. marked by growth, innovation and market leadership.
Rhodia Inc. is the U.S. unit of the Rhodia Group, one of the world's leading specialty chemical companies. Rhodia's operations in the country rank among the top 10 specialty chemical companies (in sales) headquartered outside the United States.
Rhodia Inc. traces its history to the early 1900's when its predecessor company, Rhône-Poulenc of France, built a chemical production facility in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
After decades of organic growth, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, Rhodia today employs about 1,600 people at a number of administrative and production sites across the U.S. and at one site in Canada (further information on our Canadian operations available here). Nearly 300 of them work at our headquarters campus in Cranbury, New Jersey, located half-way between New York City and Philadelphia.
About 17 percent of Rhodia's global sales - 820 million euros - are derived from our operations in the North America zone (combining the U.S. and Canada). Our businesses, manufacturing and research operations contribute to the development, production and marketing of innovative products and services that make Rhodia a world-class specialty chemicals company.
Rhodia's U.S. operations serve Rhodia’s Novecare, Eco Services, Silcea, Polyamide and Acetow enterprises, allowing the company to hold leadership positions in industrial, automotive, tire, refining, electronics, perfume, health, beauty and home care markets in the North America zone. The zone is also a valuable contributor to the Group’s overall technological profile and innovative product portfolio.
In line with the Group’s approach to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, our American employees are committed to the Rhodia Way. An outstanding record of safety and many historical and recent examples of responsible behavior toward all stakeholders demonstrates that the principles of the Rhodia Way have long been part of our culture.
Rhodia complies with local, regional and national environmental regulations and, in many cases, voluntarily exceeds government requirements. Our production sites seek opportunities to reduce waste and emissions and rejuvenate local environments, even in some instances where Rhodia did not create the need for restoration. They also place a strong emphasis on maintaining open and constructive community relations. Staff members are engaged in local communities surrounding Rhodia sites, whether through involvement in community advisory councils, civic and philanthropic activities, educational initiatives or donations to local organizations and schools.
Today, a wide range of businesses in the U.S. contribute to the development, manufacture and marketing of the innovative products and services that make the Rhodia Group one of the world's leading specialty chemicals companies.
