Rhodia's Responsible Care® Policy, Product Stewardship Information

Chemicals manufactured by Rhodia Inc. are prioritized for additional review based on potential risk.

Summary of Rhodia Inc.'s Prioritization Process for Chemical Products

Chemicals manufactured by Rhodia Inc. are prioritized for additional review based on potential risk. Potential risk is assessed using a matrix that looks at “inherent hazards” and “potential exposures”. Those chemicals that have both the highest “hazard” and “exposure” ratings are then considered as high priority chemicals for further evaluation and risk mitigation where appropriate.

“Inherent hazard” is based on a semi-quantitative evaluation of the hazards related to health, flammability and reactivity with health effects being weighted four times higher than flammability or reactivity.

“Potential exposure” is ranked semi-quantitatively using a combination of production volume and the likelihood of exposures to individuals. Potential exposure in consumer products is given additional consideration.
